The engimatic Paul Weller, photo taken from the heyday of the seminal mod/punk band, The Jam.  The music of The Jam is one of our biggest influences, stylistically, musically, subculturally….

Even our name, Thick as Thieves, was inspired by The Jam’s song of the same name.

Great vintage photo from the ‘Golden Age of Air Travel’ in the early 1960s.  Back when stewardesses and pilots were somewhat of a “celebrity” status occupation.

One of the stylist/youth movements that has influenced the Thick as Thieves aesthetic is the mid 1960s French youth movement, “Les Minets”.   In many ways this was the French youth version of English Modernists.  Highly obsessed with style and looking clean cut at all times, this short lived and not often spoken about youth group has definitely contributed to the style lexicon.

Great vintage capture of football fans engaging in weekend violence.  With the advent of CCTV cameras everywhere now, such boisterous behavior has been severely curtailed.

Dexy’s Midnight Runners, before they adopted the “new wave gypsy” look.  Singer Kevin Rowland has been involved in British subculture since the late 1960s and his insights into clothes and youth subculture have been well written in various books like “The Look”.

The iconic 60s French actor, Alain Delon, who’s film “Le Samourai” was a huge sartorial inspiration for many.  This striking blue-ish-grey coat is definitely something to behold.

Fantastic photo taken in the late 1960s of British working class kids.  Although we look at this as a “subculture” look nowadays, back then this was the mainstream look for those who wanted to be “in crowd”.
